Teo Heng - Teochew porridge

Certainly one of the best Teochew porridge in Singapore!

Previously located at Hong Lim Food Centre and now moved to Amoy Food Centre but Teo Heng well kept their cooking skill no matter where they go....even more Teochew fans come all the way for it's real deal.
What's the secrect weapon? I say, simplicity is the best!

Look at the placement and all dishes, they are all neat and well placed without any source, the taste of food is from the freshness and the source is only helps to bring out the sweetness of the food. They are not known for variety but definitely the quality!

The fishcake, tau kwa (Stuffed dry bean curd), sotong (Squid), pork belly, duck meat & the steamed fish (Not on display but please ask for what's fresh from the market:)

Here we come to the high-light, my favorite seasoned egg!
Soft and sweet centre watery yolk eggs!!!! 1 bite, 3 surprises!!! 1st you will taste the seasoning/ braise source then 2nd layer is the soft and smooth egg white, 3rd to itself sweet and watery egg yolks...It's so gentle, feel so love....the best comfort egg!

These eggs are Teo Heng's 60 years tradition since his father's time and now become all generation's favioute...I say, Japanese must have been here;)

A perfect day in Holland Villge - Newly found love - Beef noodle

This is my newly found precious in Holland Village - Fei Zai Eatery. Look at this love, there are 3 secret weapons in this bowl:

1. Hong Kong Choy Sum (Cai Xin - the vegetables)

This is so rare in Singapore, becos Hong Kong Cai Xin is usually   much more expensive then the local lettuce. They are fresh and sweet. Perfect for noodles in soup.

2. Beef - So soft and tender! Melt in mouth!!!! I would say, even old aunts can finish them in no time! The boss is very generous too, look at my pix, it's only SGD 4 but there are quite a bit of beef in it. Good deal!

3. Look at the soup colour, it's dark. It really boiled soup but not water with salt. You get what I mean?

Of course not to mention that the noodle is very QQ too. My best rated beef noodle in Singapore so far! Good job!!!!

Holland Village is my must go place during the weekend (Mostly Sunday). Need some alone time to do all my favorite things in 1 day at 1 place....Manicure, pedicure, shopping, coffee, magazines, toast, dim sum, accessories, brow tweezing, massage, facial, dessert, beer,....You name it!

My routine will be start from pick up a magazine from those Indian uncles...then runs up for a mani and pedi, sometimes massage instead, next to Browhause for a tweezing...then visit my favorite store Antipodean, then ends it with coffee at Haagen Dazs (Yes, surprisingly Haagen Dazes offer the best offer in Holland V. but I am not a big fans of theit ice cream;) or sometimes will end it with beer...Cheers;)

On the way to taxi stand, it's perfect timing to pick up some grocery from Cold Storage. Yup, that's it, my boring Sunday routine but it's my perfect therapy to prepare Monday blue.....;) Just hope this place will stay as it is and don't let the MRT ruin it......:(

Let me tell more about this little place some time...

Singapore Night Hunt

I was so excited about the programme and was enthusiastic but obviously, I didn't win!! What so ever, most importantly, I had fun with my friends although it's super tired too:(

Here are little foot prints for the night...

At last, the night is about over....We're all tired.....just want to have breakfast!!!!

Eng Kee Fried Chicken Wing 榮記炸鷄翅膀

Hot with crunchy skin and plump juicy flesh chicken wings, it's my weak spot.

I call this a chicken affair hide out, it's hide among HDBs in commonwealth, not exactly easy to find. That's also why I love it, so I can use my hands to hold up the crispy chicken wings and lick them all...hahaah...

Comes to chicken wings, in my opinion, it's not all about the seasoning but the temperature! I love it freshly fried and eat it piping hot! When you bite into it, the juice flows out, this is the perfect moment to taste all the seasoning. Even just salt and pepper will do the job:)

Chicken wings as my main course, usually people order Mee Hoon (Fried noodles), vegetables, otah, fish cakes and all.... I am very focus after all;)

This is funny picture, guess he really know what he wants!! Hahah! Nice!

You know, if you ask direction about HDB block no, people may not know but Eng Kee has became the landmark of this area. That's how things work out in Asia, eat first, everything else will fall into place:)

Address: 117 Commonwealth Drive, #01-711. (The info on the internet is no longer correct which is 12noon to 12midnight. According to the owner, now a days, they opens from 4pm onward, sometimes close at about 10pm Monday to Saturday, close on Sunday)

TWG Raffles Place

A quiet lunch in the busy city during weekdays....TWG @ Raffles Place is the place to go to.

A busy week, feel like rewarding myself with nice lunch...I have always bypass this TWG to buy macarons but this is really first time stepping onto the stairs to 2nd floor...

Cleverly perched on a "suspended" stand alone area within Republic Plaza, you have to walk up a short flight of stairs from the first floor which I enjoyed the short tour by admiring their Tea accessories and patestries sales area.  Then the French music leaded me to the dining area which it amidst the soft incessant buzz of the place, feel so relax already... cosy warmth with its intimate dining area, huge glass windows with translucent curtains coupled with a glass ceiling.

And further more, on the Tea and food menu, you will know why I am kick....

Those tartan chairs are so comfy, perfectly chill the non-stop busy morning. Just lay back and enjoy my tea...Here is my order, Silver Moon Ice Tea. Instead of a hot tea, I've chosen this ice tea to cool off the hot day. A TWG blend of green tea is accented with a grand berry and vanilla bouquet, with just a hint of spice. They call it 'The tea for that special moment'. This is it! Make me drooling, even till now! ooops....it is really something....

My Main course was Smoked duck served with tomato and cucumber salad....hmmm....this was just ok but it's just nice for me to save more room for the rest!

This is the killer! Special dessert of the week! (Well, when it is just serve, I am not the fans of how it loos but....the taste is more important;)

Crisp shortbread topped with fresh red berries and a silver moon tea infused cream, served with a rich apricot coulis....Oh my oh my....The layers of flavors, it's so perfectly blend together yet the little twist from the tea infused cream, it's so unforgettable. The taste of joy!!! I am so lucky to be alive!

It's not the end yet, I took away 3 macarons (Rose, Lemon & Chocolate, my all time favor) and you know what? This is still not the end?! They actually ended my meal with 2 lovely truffles (Complimentary!)... Yes, that's the way, I feel so welcome with their kind hospitality and lovely sweet goodies, what else can bid 2 gorgeous truffles!

I was so wrong that this is just another swanky place but I am kick and will come back very very soon.

THE TEA!!!!  Forget about all latte, cappuccino, red/ white wine when you are here...All you need is their tea, I won't say it's the best in the world but you can taste the love from the blend. They are unique!
