Singapore Night Hunt

I was so excited about the programme and was enthusiastic but obviously, I didn't win!! What so ever, most importantly, I had fun with my friends although it's super tired too:(

Here are little foot prints for the night...

At last, the night is about over....We're all tired.....just want to have breakfast!!!!

Eng Kee Fried Chicken Wing 榮記炸鷄翅膀

Hot with crunchy skin and plump juicy flesh chicken wings, it's my weak spot.

I call this a chicken affair hide out, it's hide among HDBs in commonwealth, not exactly easy to find. That's also why I love it, so I can use my hands to hold up the crispy chicken wings and lick them all...hahaah...

Comes to chicken wings, in my opinion, it's not all about the seasoning but the temperature! I love it freshly fried and eat it piping hot! When you bite into it, the juice flows out, this is the perfect moment to taste all the seasoning. Even just salt and pepper will do the job:)

Chicken wings as my main course, usually people order Mee Hoon (Fried noodles), vegetables, otah, fish cakes and all.... I am very focus after all;)

This is funny picture, guess he really know what he wants!! Hahah! Nice!

You know, if you ask direction about HDB block no, people may not know but Eng Kee has became the landmark of this area. That's how things work out in Asia, eat first, everything else will fall into place:)

Address: 117 Commonwealth Drive, #01-711. (The info on the internet is no longer correct which is 12noon to 12midnight. According to the owner, now a days, they opens from 4pm onward, sometimes close at about 10pm Monday to Saturday, close on Sunday)

TWG Raffles Place

A quiet lunch in the busy city during weekdays....TWG @ Raffles Place is the place to go to.

A busy week, feel like rewarding myself with nice lunch...I have always bypass this TWG to buy macarons but this is really first time stepping onto the stairs to 2nd floor...

Cleverly perched on a "suspended" stand alone area within Republic Plaza, you have to walk up a short flight of stairs from the first floor which I enjoyed the short tour by admiring their Tea accessories and patestries sales area.  Then the French music leaded me to the dining area which it amidst the soft incessant buzz of the place, feel so relax already... cosy warmth with its intimate dining area, huge glass windows with translucent curtains coupled with a glass ceiling.

And further more, on the Tea and food menu, you will know why I am kick....

Those tartan chairs are so comfy, perfectly chill the non-stop busy morning. Just lay back and enjoy my tea...Here is my order, Silver Moon Ice Tea. Instead of a hot tea, I've chosen this ice tea to cool off the hot day. A TWG blend of green tea is accented with a grand berry and vanilla bouquet, with just a hint of spice. They call it 'The tea for that special moment'. This is it! Make me drooling, even till now! ooops....it is really something....

My Main course was Smoked duck served with tomato and cucumber salad....hmmm....this was just ok but it's just nice for me to save more room for the rest!

This is the killer! Special dessert of the week! (Well, when it is just serve, I am not the fans of how it loos but....the taste is more important;)

Crisp shortbread topped with fresh red berries and a silver moon tea infused cream, served with a rich apricot coulis....Oh my oh my....The layers of flavors, it's so perfectly blend together yet the little twist from the tea infused cream, it's so unforgettable. The taste of joy!!! I am so lucky to be alive!

It's not the end yet, I took away 3 macarons (Rose, Lemon & Chocolate, my all time favor) and you know what? This is still not the end?! They actually ended my meal with 2 lovely truffles (Complimentary!)... Yes, that's the way, I feel so welcome with their kind hospitality and lovely sweet goodies, what else can bid 2 gorgeous truffles!

I was so wrong that this is just another swanky place but I am kick and will come back very very soon.

THE TEA!!!!  Forget about all latte, cappuccino, red/ white wine when you are here...All you need is their tea, I won't say it's the best in the world but you can taste the love from the blend. They are unique!

Yummy, Pretty, Fresh, Nice breakfast!!

I am on a fruits diet. Meaning, having fruits as breakfast (Yes, only fruits)....hmm.....it's been a while  but so far so good, in fact loving it. Make me feel fresh start for a day:)

Yellow dragon fruits, my first time seeing, bought it and ate it. Now became my fav!!!!!!
The fruit ripen from late November to February and it is certainly the sweetest and tastiest of all the dragon fruit. This variety is self pollinating, and it will set fruit on its own. Amazing, isn't it??
Petite in size (0.5 - 0.7 lbs each), lovely colour, perfect for summer time!! I meant in Singapore, hahaha...all the time!

Due to its rare production, price is quite high, I bought from a fruit market, per 100g is SGD 2.80,
2 pieces ended up at SGD 10.80...Ex right??? After the heart pain, look at this cutie, I think it's still worth trying!!!!  2 are perfect for breakfast!!! Summer fruit!!

So happy:) SO yummy:0 Try it try it!!!!!!

Recipe - Poached Egg Milk

It's another insomnia night....Just can't sleep....1am plus....so lazy....craving for food....

I miss my mum....She can't cook well but she makes nice dessert...Poached egg in milk is one of my favorite, I used to have it every night before my bed time....I named it the 'Sweet Dream Magic Milk'.
  • 1.5 glass of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 full tea spoon sugar or more (White sugar)
1. Heat milk to boiling in 8-inch skillet or cooking port over medium-high heat, then reduce heat so milk is simmering.

2. Break egg into custard cup or saucer then carefully slip egg into milk. Cook about 1 minute for runny egg or 5 minutes until whites and yolks are firm. Depends on your liking. (I prefer the runny egg)

3. Add in tea spoon of white sugar as last step if you like. Pour it over to soup bowl.

**I like dip soft milk bread into the milk for breakfast, at night is just simply poached egg in milk:)

Making this for myself now, reminds me so much of her...Mum, I wish you know how much I love you...even though you are still very naggy;)

Tai Ping Koon Restaurant 太平館餐廳

Tai Ping Koon, one of the first Western restaurants in Hong Kong, has over 140 years of history, and created the 'Soy Sauce Western Cuisine'.

So what exactly is the 'Soy Sauce Western Cuisine'? It is the grandfather of all fusion dishes in Hong Kong. The owner of Tai Ping Koon, Mr Tsui, started making this dish in Guangzhou in 1860. He made a business from Western-style Pork Chop and Steak with Soy Sauce, a welcome surprise to both Chinese and Western customers.

Some of my all time favoriteSS:

燒豬肶 - super tender port leg meat, doesn't look glam but it's super yummy with Swiss sauce.

瑞士雞翼 (Swiss Sauce Chicken Wings) - There are Swiss sauce chicken wings everywhere but this is the best! Best for the sauce!
瑞士汁牛肉炒河 (Swiss Sauce Beef Ho Fun) - I can have this everyday!!!!! The hor fun is chewy and gels perfectly with the sweet Swiss Sauce was a nice compliment to the savory beef.

After appetizer and main dishes, you must save some room for dessert - a super size baked soufflé that regular diners look forward to all night! Although I am not a big fans of Hong Kong style Soufflé, yet, worth trying! It's huge!

I love old things, from old toys/ jewelries/ bags to architecture and restaurants, it means so much to remember our roots, culture and how we progress from then.

Food straight down to our stomach, memory flows up to the soul.....
